Our Classes

  • Our standard classes are designed for adults and are open to participants 18 and older.
We plan to offer youth and children’s classes during select summer sessions. Details will be posted when those dates are available.

  • Try it and Throw

Come get messy and inspired during this 2 hour workshop while we introduce you to the world of pottery! We will give you a tour of the equipment and guide you through a basic introduction to throwing on the wheel. No prior experience is required! At the end of the session, you will get to choose two of your masterpieces to take home with you. (Pottery will need to be glazed and fired. Pick-up of pieces will be coordinated when they are ready.)

  • Beginners 4-Week Intro

In this 4-week pottery course, you'll dive deeper into the art of wheel throwing with no experience required. Each week, you'll build your skills through hands-on practice, shaping and refining pieces that are truly your own. All materials and tools are provided, and by the end of the course, you'll have 5 to 10 finished pots to show for it. Classes meet once a week for four weeks straight. Students will then return three to four weeks later to pick up your glazed and fired creations at your own leisure.

  • Intermediate Classes

This intermediate class meets for 3 consecutive days, followed by a glazing session the following week to finish your work. This class is designed for students who already have wheel throwing experience and want to level up their skills through more focused instruction on consistency, control, shaping, trimming, handles, and intentional forms. Previous wheel throwing experience is required, and students must be able to center clay on their own. Class size is limited to 4 students, allowing for more individualized instruction. Each student will work toward a personalized project goal based on their current ability, such as a small dinnerware set, kitchen set, matching mugs or bowls, or a statement piece for display.

  • Advanced Wheel Series

Ready to level up your skills? These upcoming specialty courses are designed for returning students or those with some wheel experience under their belts. Each course will focus on a specific form or project — from teapots and pitchers to full dinner sets, vases, and other more complex builds. These multi-session classes will take your pottery practice to the next level, with expert guidance and plenty of room to grow. Stay tuned — class details and dates are on the way.

  • One Time Specialty Classes

These classes are one time sessions that focus on one particular item or task. These classes DO NOT involve the pottery wheel. The focus is on handbuilding and using tools/altering forms. This will range from handbuilding mugs, punching holes in berry bowls, and carving a fruit bowl. Creations will be glazed by Vierheller Pottery and packaged for pick at a later date.
